Congratulations
to John Perkins
~ Feb
14, 06 - It wasn't that long ago that we had a posting here of John making
his first solo flight in 93G. John
and 93G have recently gone through some changes together. 93G has been
returned to the ramp with a new paint job, new engine, new interior, and
John just recently received his private pilot certificate. John can now
share his excitement of be a private pilot and take his family and friends
for a ride in the very plane he has learned how to fly in, and to help
him share his excitement his trusty trainer has the look and feel of a
brand new aircraft. Good luck to John as he continues with his flying experience.

Up
Up and Away!
~ Feb
11, 06 - Have you seen 93G lately? It's our 1971 Skyhawk that's had a major
makeover. New paint, new engine, new interior... plus, it has a new 160
hp engine with a S.T.O.L. kit installed. That's right, this is no ordinary
Skyhawk. Here's a picture of our newly released and restored Skyhawk flying
away with a pilot that's having fun! You know what? I think I'll go down
and take that baby for a ride... Be sure to keep checking our "aircraft
picture" page as the pics on the new restoration get posted.
Congratulations
to Mike McMahon (again)!
~ Feb
11, 06 - Mike tells me that he just received his instructors rating. "I
can't believe it, I'm a CFI!" Just a few years ago, Mike was standing on
the ramp waiting for his first flight lesson from Ossipee Valley Aviation.
With a lot of hard work and persistence, Mike has pushed through all the
obstacles and achieved many of his goals. Wondering if you'd like to take
flight lessons? No problem, come on down and I'm sure Mike would like to
help you out. Congratulations to Mike in his amazing journey to getting
his CFI and good luck with his flying accomplishments.
Congratulations
to Julie Bruce & Mike McMahon!
~
Feb 10, 06 - Congratulations
to Julie and Mike on receiving the Multi-Engine Instrument Rating! Both
pilots have come up through the ranks of Pilot Training Courses offered
here at Ossipee Valley Aviation. Whether you're looking to fly for fun

out! Good luck to Julie and Mike as they continue with their flying experience.
Ice
Drag Race and Radar Run
~
Feb 8, 06 - Here's a some great pics sent in by Kevin.
  Here's
what he had to say: "These are some pictures that were taken of the t-craft
a couple weekends ago. We went to a snowmobile Ice Drag Race and Radar
Run on Jenness Pond in Northwood. That runway-like area is the drag strip,
we landed on the snow. The photographer was Gray Bliss, a friend of mine.
He said it was cool to put the pics on the site".

TFR
ALERT! (again)~
Feb
, 06 - The
the FAA has issued a notam restricting
flight in the area during President Bush's planned visit on Wednesday,
February 8. The trip was originally scheduled to take place on Tuesday.
It was postponed one day to allow Mr. and Mrs. Bush to attend the funeral
service for Coretta Scott King near Atlanta. They are currently saying
there will be a 30-nautical-mile temporary flight restriction (TFR) with
an inner 10-mile radius no fly zone centered on the MHT VOR's
339-degree radial at 7.8 miles, extending up to Flight Level 180. It will
be in effect from 10:35 a.m. local until 1:05 p.m. local Wednesday. CALL
THE FSS FOR THE LATEST TFR STATUS. You can also visit the
FAA
site and the AOPA
site. Check out this AOPA screen capture
about TFR's, ADIZ's, MOA's, and OMG's. (The last
one I made up, OhMyGod.)
TFR
on/off ? ~
Feb
5, - Now you see it, then you don't? AOPA now says "Anticipated"
and the FAA site looks as if it wasn't posted... Call the front Desk at
332-0005 for the latest status.
Alton
Bay Ice Airport Update!
~
Feb 5, 06 - Here's an update from Glen: I went down the other morning,
and there was not a lot of hope for the runway in the short term. The ice
looks awfully black with “corn snow” on top. Yesterday I flew over it to
see what it looked like, and there is open water not far from, and maybe
even up to where we usually park planes. From the air it looked black out
to just past the bandstand and all the way across the bay. With fish and
game basically telling everyone to stay off all ice still, and the warm
weather and rain, we are still not going to open it for a while.
TFR
ALERT!~
Feb
4, 06 - The
FAA has issued a notam restricting flight in and near Manchester, New Hampshire

Another
Skyhawk Returns to the Ramp!
~ Jan
25, 06 - Check this out! This may look like a brand new Skyhawk,
but it's actually 93G! Yes, that's right, it has a new paint job, new interior,
and a new engine. It's not on the ramp yet, but it will be there shortly.
We're all excited here at Ossipee Valley Aviation to bring back 93G and
proudly join the ranks with 43G and 23G. Here's a preview of this beautiful
Cessna Skyhawk. Remember, "This ain't no ordinary Skyhawk!" With
the new ram 160 hp engine and the S.T.O.L. kit this aircraft wants to fly.
Call the office now to reserve some time with a special Skyhawk!

Amazing
Web sites & Links!!~
Jan 21, 06 - Have
you visited our "Links" page lately? Well, hold on to your hat, we've got
some video's and web site links that will make you say, "Oh my God!" "Holy
Cow!", and probably a few other adjectives we can't say here. Most of the
pictures and videos we'll focus on are of course about planes and pilots.
With the movie media and web sites using Macromedia Flash to turn web sites
into high tech Hollywood special effects you get a front row seat to major
shows and events right at your home computer. One web site that comes to
mind is the "Red Bull Copilot" web site. Have you seen it? If you're still
on dial-up you're out of luck. But if you have DSL or Broadband cable,
you need to check out this site, especially the options to view Kirby Chambliss.
By the way, Kirby stopped by Skyhaven Airport last summer and visited Ossipee
Valley Aviation, and...... while he was here, he performed one of his tailstanding
maneuvers. Anyway, you can click on this article icon
to see the Red Bull Copilot splash pic, or you can go to our "Link Page"
and click on the mini Red Bull Copilot pic to visit the site.
New
Online Pamphlet!
~
Jan 19, 06 - We've just updated our online
pamphlet and it's in the PDF format. That means you can just click
on the small picture of the pamphlet and the PDF file will automatically
load. Then you can pan and zoom, or print a copy if you want. Thanks to
the computer skills of our CFI Pete Seavey, we have a nice update to our
pamphlet with the latest information on learning how to fly and pricing.
Almost everything you see on our web site is clickable. So, feel free to
roam around and click on things. Have you seen the "Alton Bay Ice Airport"
page yet? If you haven't, then click on the "Alton
Bay Ice Airport" icon and check out the pictures we have of our aircraft
giving rides off the ice runway.
Congratulations
to Steve Panish!
~
Jan 16, 06 - Congratulations
to Steve on making his first solo flight. Under the guidance of our CFI
Chip Johnson, Steve has made is first solo flight in N4511R, our Cherokee
140. The Cherokee 140 is not only a great training aircraft, but after
you get your license, you can use the same aircraft you learned how to
fly in and bring three of your friends with you. To learn more about the
Cherokee that Steve is flying just click on the yellow plane in this article.
Good Luck to Steve as he continues working towards his private pilots certificate.
Congratulations
to Josh Howard!
~
Jan 10, 06 - Congratulations
to Josh on receiving his private pilot certificate. That's right, now Josh
can take his family and friends for a plane ride... finally! Josh joins
the ranks of the privileged pilots that fly our IFR Skyhawk with auto-pilot
and a moving map GPS. Where will Josh go from here? Instrument, commercial,
or maybe the multi-engine rating? Or, maybe just enjoy some time as a private
pilot? Whatever he decides, our CFI's can help him make the right choice
and we have the aircraft that will get you there. Check out our "Student
Solo" page to see when Josh soloed. Good luck to Josh as he continues
his flying experience.
Air
Safety Seminar Schedule for February
~
Jan 8, 06 - Here's
the latest FAA Air Safety Seminar schedule from Jim Dubois. The closest
February meeting to Skyhaven is at Hampton Airport. It's a presentation
by Jeff Brown and Don Briselden about the significant amount of pilot-related
aviation accidents. Click on the icon for more information.
Control
Lock vs. Tow Bar
~
Jan 8, 06 - If
you look in the baggage area (or back seat) in the Cherokee 180 you might
notice that there's two tow bars? Wrong! One is a tow bar the other is
a "Control Lock." For a Cessna pilot, that's a little shocking, but what
can I say. The first time you install the control lock for 50J might give
you a little grief, but you get use to it.... or not.
Whatever
your opinion might be, don't forget to re-install the control lock when
your done. Be sure to check out the "Aircraft Pictures" section to see
the latest pics showing the control
lock installation on 50J.
My
First Winter
~
Jan 8, 06 - Here's
our new Cessna 150 sitting on the ramp sharing the winter snow with the
other aircraft. Isn't it a beauty! In the second picture that's our 2001
Skyhawk 43G on the left, and 23G our 150 on the right. For more information
about this beautiful aircraft, click on the "Aircraft
Pictures" option in the menu.
Rental
Rates Come Down!
~
Jan 2, 05 - Hey, check out the "cost & rental"
fee page. It's been updated and the prices have come down. What a way to
start the new year with some great new restorations on our fleet accompanied
with lower rates! If you haven't done any winter flying in a while you
now have an excuse to drive down to Ossipee Valley Aviation and get checked
out in one of our aircraft. Take your pick, low wing, high wing, tail dragger,
twin, we have them all. Give us a call to get started today...
Congratulations
to Julie Bruce!
~
Dec 27, 05 - Congratulations
to Julie Bruce on receiving her commercial license! It wasn't that long
ago we were congratulating Julie on making her first solo flight in 93G.
Now, here she is with her commercial license. What's next? I thought I
heard her talking about taking the CFI test... for some people you could
say the "sky's the limit" but for Julie, her sights are definitely not
limited to the sky. Looking to fly for fun or, maybe start a career in
flying? You can do either at Ossipee Valley Aviation. What will Julie obtain
next in her list of aviation credentials? How about a multi-engine certification
in our twin? In the meantime, good luck to Julie as she continues on with
her aviation accomplishments.
